Here is a nice little trailer just released telling about the drums that will be in Guitar Hero 4 World Tour. It has famous drummers commenting on the drum setup for the game like Stewart Copeland (The Police), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Travis Barker (Blink – 182). Check it out below.

Every time I hear something new about the upcoming Guitar Hero game it makes me want it more and more.

Reports from the Gaming News Industry are saying that details about the Upcoming Guitar Hero 4 are on their way via a preview in the latest issue of Game Informer. Lets do a Rundown of the new info for Guitar Hero 4.

Multiple Instruments!

Guitar Hero 4 is taking an obvious step it needs to take at this point in the series by adding more instruments to the game in order to compete with Rock Band. It is said that the game will feature The Guitar (of course), Bass guitar, Drums, and Microphone. I mean we all knew it had to happen and was going to, but I am definitely excited to play Guitar Hero with multiple instruments. Everyone knows how incredibly fun the drums are on Rock band.

Confirmed Bands for Guitar Hero 4!

There is also information about bands that will be featured in the new game and although there has only been a couple of bands mentioned that will be in the game, the list is looking damn good.

Confirmed so far:

• Van Halen
• The Eagles
• Linkin Park
• Sublime

I mean 3 of the 4 just mentioned are just awesome. I am not sure, but I would imagine The Eagles would be bringing Hotel California to the game which is a great song. Van Halen is just sweet and have a bunch of good songs. And Sublime is amazing also. I hope they get Santeria from Sublime. I personally don’t like Linkin Park very much, but who knows, maybe playing their songs will be sweet. It looks like Activision is listening to the fans becuase I have seen tons of requests for those bands to be included in the game.

Create A Song Feature!

I was personally not expecting this one. Apparently you will now be able to create your own songs to play!!!!! I guess they also saw all the modding and hacking that has been going on with the previous Guitar Hero Games and they decided to make it a feature. I think you can only modify the songs that are already on the game unfortunately. It would be sweet to be able to do your own songs somehow. The only thing that you can’t mess with is the songs vocals due to possible storage and copyright issues. And once you are all done making your new song all sweet, you will then be able to upload your songs so that other Guitar Hero Players can download and play your masterpieces.

Guitar Hero 4 will be released for PS3. XBOX 360, Wii, and PS2 and is due to be released Fall 2008.

Looks like Guitar Hero 4 is taking the course of Rock Band and is going to have instruments other than a Guitar as well as vocals and such. I mean it really does not surprise me at all. Activision knows they have to add more in order to compete with Rock Band in the future and make the game progress more. Its just necessary. I would be worried if I was Rock Band though. Guitar Hero obviously has better brand recognition and such. the only reason Rock Band was so successful competing with Guitar Hero was that it had the extra instruments. Now that Rock Band will be losing its only edge against Guitar Hero, I think its going to be completely overshadowed. I guess we will see though.

I just can’t wait to see the future of this game and how it will evolve. I mean the limits are completely endless. With so much music our there, so many instruments, and genres, and everything. Its onyl a matter of time before your sitting there with 20 of your friends playing Orchestra Hero.

Recently one of the co-creators of Guitar Hero and the vice president of Red Octane, Charles Huang , had an interview about the game. In the interview one of the questions asked him about Guitar Hero 4!

Q: What is happening with “Guitar Hero IV”? Are you in the process of making that now?

A: We are just wrapping up a “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith,” which is going to ship around the world this summer. It is basically Aerosmith songs, plus bands that have toured with Aerosmith, or maybe they’ve opened for Aerosmith or Aerosmith may have opened for them in their earlier days. Right after that wraps up, we are going to do “Guitar Hero IV,” which is set to come out this fall, around October or November.

With almost no information released about the highly anticipated Guitar Hero 4, this news comes as a breathe of fresh air. Although Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is going to be sweet (in my opinion) I also can’t wait for the next traditional version of Guitar Hero. I’m really hoping they take Guitar Hero 4 to the next level though by making it more like Rock Band. I guess we will just have to wait for fall to find out!

Last week we reported on a rumor that Def Leppard stated that they will have 3 songs on Guitar Hero 4. We later found that the interview would not be released until April 29th because Def Leppard had performed songs from their upcoming album on the show. After, I immediately contacted Rockline Radio to see if they would release at least a clip of the interview with the Guitar Hero 4 part.

After a week, today rockline radio finally got back to me with the news that they were able to get permission to release the clip to the public!

To put a little spin on this story I just read an article on the topic of Def Leppard on Guitar Hero over at 1up.com suggesting that the 3 songs may actually be released as a song pack for Guitar Hero 3. We don’t know their sources as they kept them hidden, “And while we can’t name names, this rumor rings true with whisperings we heard from some trustworthy sources”. And like they said in the article, it really does make sense. I mean 3 songs, song pack, the fact that there has never been a Guitar Hero with 3 songs by a single band.

Maybe Phil Collen just got his words or info mixed up a little… Guess we will have to wait to find out.

This track list preview gives a big glimpse into how the game will be set up and I have to say it doesn’t look bad. Each level looks like its own show. You have the opening bands then the main headliner which is of course Aerosmith. There have been a lot of people against the game. Just read some of the comments over here on the Guitar Hero Aerosmith Song List page. But seeing this track list, it looks like its going to be a pretty damn cool game.

I just received an email from someone stating that while Def Leppard was doing an interview on the radio show Rockline, A caller asked the band why none of their songs have been featured in either Guitar Hero or Rock band. To many fans happiness guitarist Phil Collen replied with the news that there will be at least 3 songs of theirs on the future Guitar Hero 4.

The songs he stated include:

• Photograph
• Animal
• Rock of Ages

I didn’t actually hear it myself unfortunately. Can anyone else confirm this news? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Rockline seems to have a replay section that has past shows, but I guess they did not post the Def Leppard interview yet. When its posted I will throw a link to it up here.

Update** Missed it before, but it looks like the show on Rockline with the band won’t be posted until April 29th because they played songs from their upcoming album on the show.

The interview is said to be available on torrent sites if your interested check it.

Welcome to the Guitar Hero 4 Song Wishlist! Part 2!

While the first wishlist is being counted, with over 300 comments and however many suggestions. Some people left lists of 100 songs!

We had everything from Beatles (Yea!) to Manson(eh.) to Hannah Montana(?) suggested in the comments. Even requests that a Christian and country version of Guitar Hero be made.

One idea i thought was pretty cool was for Activision to build up a solid list of “Guitar Heroed” songs and offer a service to create custom mixed Guitar Hero games.

I know you all have those songs you have always wanted to see on the game. So post ‘em here and Who knows, maybe somebody from Guitar Hero will read them.

Here is where things start to get confusing. An MTV game blog reports that there are only 2 new games slated for release this year. I am going to think gameindustry.biz has the correct information and MTV just heard about the first 2 games and not the 3rd. But I guess we will see.

So far Aerosmith is confirmed to be involved in one of the new games. And it has been rumored that U2 is going to be involved in another. There have not been too many details other than that.  I personally hope the U2 rumor stays a rumor, and they surprise us with someone sweet. I’m not a big U2 fan.

On another note, doesn’t it seem that Activision is going to milk this series for everything its got. I mean I understand the need to make money, but spread the games out a little. I would have been fine with 2 new games this year, but I personally think 3 is just too much and they are getting greedy.  I really don’t want to see Guitar Hero turn into Dance Dance Revolution or something.
