After DJ Guetta let the news slip about a new DJ Hero game slated for release this year, Activision is finally confirming the rumor. Activision however did not add a “2″ to the end of the game instead opting for the more ambiguous “a future instalment” language.

“Do you want your song mashed up in the next DJ Hero?” Activision asked musicians attending the huge MIDEM music show in Cannes, France later this month.

Those that do will have their submissions judged at a Listening Session at MIDEM on 27th January – “providing one lucky undiscovered musician the priceless opportunity to have their winning song mixed, mastered and featured in a future installment of DJ Hero”.

It looks like DJ Guetta, who has previously released downloadable tracks for DJ Hero, will be working on a DJ Hero 2.

“I think it’s amazing, this game, and I’m going to work on the No. 2 version,” say David Guetta.

Apart from “working on the No. 2 version”, DJ Guetta seems to be a pretty avid player of the original DJ Hero.

“It’s a really crazy game. After 10 minutes, you get the rush that a DJ gets after 10 years of practising. I have fun with it, but you know what? I can’t go to the maximum level. It’s too difficult for me. It’s crazy.”

Looks like we will get a bit more use out of all of those Turntable controllers!

It seems Activision is going to offer a few different packages of DJ Hero to purchase. Aside from the regular version of DJ Hero which will will run you $120 for the game and the turntable, Activision will also be releasing a DJ Hero Renegade Edition.

The Renegade edition comes with a nice carrying case that converts easily into a DJ Table to put the turntable on. The turntable is said to have nicer metal controls and finishing than the normal DJ Hero Turntable. On top of all that the Renegade Edition will feature a 2-cd disk set featuring unreleased tracks from Jay-Z and Eminem!

The DJ Hero Renegade Edition will end up costing you around $199 according to rumors.

According to an announcement today, it is said that DJ Jazzy Jeff will be a character featured in the upcoming game DJ Hero!

He will join the likes of other characters to be featured including Grandmaster Flash, DJ AM, DJ Z-Trip, and DJ Shadow!

“I am very, very excited DJ culture is finally getting its due,” said Jeff. “To have a song in ‘DJ Hero’ is a dream come true; to be a character someone can pick up the controller and select you and play is probably the biggest thing to happen to me in my career. Music is so much a part of everyone’s life, ‘DJ Hero’ is going to appeal to almost everybody.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff will be contributing a 2 mixes to the game including “Shout” from British band Tears For Fears and “Eric B. is President” by Eric B. & Rakim, and the second will be “Rock The Bells” by LL Cool J and “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Aranbee Pop Symphony Orchestra.

In the past we learned that Guitar controllers could be used with DJ Hero while playing, but we think Activision has plans to highly integrate their various music games into each other. It is rumored that future Guitar Hero games could have support for the DJ Hero Turntable controller, and on the other side it is said that moving GH drums over to DJ Hero is a definite possibility. I think its a great idea to integrate the different aspects of the games together. I love to play drums to hip hop type beats.

I’ve always thought of JayZ and Eminem as early adopters for new technology and new ways to get people to hear their music, so it’s no surprise to see them hooking up with Activision with their upcoming game DJ Hero!

A few days ago Jay Z and Eminem got together for the DJ Hero Announcement Party and put on a concert at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles in order to promote the game. It looks like there were quite a few stars at the event. Check out some of the vids below!

The more information about DJ Hero that comes out, the more I am starting to like the game.

DJ Hero not only has it’s own cool little game play controller, but in certain modes you will be able to add the stylings of a Guitar and mic!

In order to create a more realistic DJing experience as well as add some fun for your friends, in DJ Hero Co-op mode you will be able to have friends on the Guitar and Microphone letting people ceate rock and roll remixes in the comfort of your living room.

As a giant fan of both rap and rock, this definitely looks pretty awesome!

In preparation for the newest upcoming music game, the DJ Hero proprietors known as Activision have released a brand new website for the game.

The site is nothing but 2 turntables, a crowd, an email form, and some logos. It has some screaming sound too.

There is an email form that says “Be the first to know” reffering to DJ Hero Obviously.

Yup, thats about it. We are at Activisions mercy as far as details.
